Department of Pulmonary Medicine caters to the needs of patients with pulmonary and Sleep disorders. It provides appropriate evaluation and holistic treatment for common respiratory disorders such as an obstructive airway disease like asthma, COPD, interstitial lung diseases, bronchiectasis, pneumonias, tuberculosis, pleural diseases, lung and thoracic malignancy, and obstructive sleep disorders.
The department has well-equipped RNTCP LAB for sputum collection and microscopy for diagnosis and treatment of Pulmonary tuberculosis as per the RNTCP guidelines. The department provides diagnostic support for obstructive airway disorders with state of art Pulmonary Function Test. Diagnostic and Therapeutic interventional procedures with use of ultramodern bronchoscope is the highlight of the department. The department has separate 5 bedded Respiratory Intensive care Unit (RICU), for intensive monitoring of the patient with Respiratory disorders.
Academic activities are conducted for undergraduates’ students during clinical postings and theory class to inculcate diagnostic aids and treatment modalities in patient with respiratory disorders.
