The Department of Biotechnology was started in the year 2002. It is affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. The institution is recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), New Delhi. The dignified department possesses on its four pillars of potency – the management, the teachers, students their values and discipline that pave the way for a tough foundation, inculcating visionary ideas with friendship and concord in hard work. Ten batches of students have commendably succeeded from this reputed biotechnology department with flying colors and many were gold medal consignee of the Anna University. Our department serves as a benchmark to all other departments in our institution.

The department was established in the year 2001. The CSE department is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA),New Delhi, India and it is approved as Centre for Research by Anna University, Chennai and the department also offers M.S by Research and Ph.D Programmes.
Mechanical Engineering is one of the major disciplines in engineering profession and its principles are involved in the design, study, development and construction of all physical devices and system.The Department has been accredited by NBA in the year 2013.
KVCET has taken a strategic initiative of Civil Department in the year 2012. This Program is affiliated to Anna University. The department has faculty members with more than a decade of experience in teaching, research and industrial exposure from various areas in Civil Engineering. The excellent infrastructure, teaching faculty of the best kind ensures quality education along with a Training and Placement Cell ensures a bright future to its students. A well-qualified and dedicated team of staff members provides the necessary strength to the department.
Biomedical Engineering was started in the year 2012 with an intake of 60 students. This Program is affiliated to Anna University and has been approved by AICTE, New Delhi. Our aim is to provide quality education to the students and impart Communication excellence in them. Apart from making them good technocrats, we also provide individual attention to make them good citizens of our nation to serve the industry and society constructively. The greatest advantage for the students is that the department is located in the vicinity of Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) and hospital, so that they can apply their theoretical knowledge imbibed from various subjects in practical sessions. The students are motivated and guided to pursue research in their field of interest with all the technical resources needed to carry out their research in association with KIMS. Keeping the employability of the graduates in mind we also offer special programme on communication skills and soft skills so that they become technical experts as well as confident personalities in today’s competitive job market.
The department has faculty members with more than a decade of experience in teaching, research and industrial exposure from various areas in biomedical engineering. Our faculty and the students work extensively to build interdisciplinary knowledge in the areas of Medicine, Biomechanics, Bioinstrumentation and Biomedical Engineering. Apart from regular teaching classes, guest lectures by renowned professors on various subjects are also organized. The department has signed MOU with Michigan Technological University, USA for student and staff exchange programme. The department has planned to build tie-ups with several institutes and industries to facilitate Industrial visit, academic and research activities of the department. The students of the department are multi-faceted with an outstanding track record in academics and extra-curricular activities. We aim for excellence in under graduate education; meaningful and innovative research and service dedicated to advancing the field of Biomedical Engineering.
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was established in the year 2001. The Department is affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai and is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. We offer exceptional training with updated modern developments.
Our department comprises a group of competent teachers striving for excellence and to develop Collaborative Research and Development linkages with leading organizations in India.
The Department of EEE, established U.G COURSE in 2005 and P.G COURSE (Power electronics and drives) in 2011 with the approval of AICTE. The Dept has been accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation).
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering has firm commitment to develop and produce Electrical Engineers of high technical knowledge combined with leadership skills and decision-making, design capabilities and problem solving skills. The department has well – equipped laboratories to support all research activities. The Department comprises of a team of eminent , committed and experienced faculty members including Professors at doctorate level , Associate Professors and Assistant Professors. The Department has been producing good results with distinction and Ranks in University Examinations
The Department of Automobile Engineering was started in the year 2010 . The department has well-qualified and experienced faculty of proven ability and administrative skills.The department has an excellent industrial interaction and well-equipped state of the art laboratories that cater to the needs of the students.The Department is actively engaged in teaching and research in the areas of Automotives, Vehicle Dynamics and related research areas.
The department of computer applications was established in the year 2006. It is affiliated to Anna University and Approved by AICTE, New Delhi. The department stands on its four pillars the management, the staff, their values and discipline that pave way for a strong foundation, promoting innovative ideas and oneness in hard work. Four batches of students have meritoriously passed out from the department. Qualitative education imparted by the faculty members enable the students to excel in both academic as well as extra-curricular activities. Presently there are 12 faculty members in the department specialized in various areas of computer science such as Networking, Database Languages, Other Programming Languages like java, VB, .NET etc. Apart from excelling in academic sphere, the faculty members are also actively pursuing research activities. Faculties of the department are presenting research articles in various national and international conferences apart from publishing original research articles in national and international journals of high impact factor.
Our two-year MBA program spans 21 months, including a summer internship between the two academic years. The program begins in August, with two weeks of orientation activities that provide a foundation of concepts and skills, as well as a warm introduction to the classmates, faculty and staff. After orientation, the intensity really begins.

The Research and Development Cell was initiated in Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology since July 2009.
