The Department of General Medicine is an integral part of Medical Institution with 4 functioning units aims to provide highest quality of care for patients from all walks of life.  This is fulfilled with the help of latest technology, dedicated staff, skilled clinicians and expertise.

The department incorporates multi-speciality services such as Critical care, Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology and Nephrology which is foundation for the students who want to seek their higher education in Critical care, Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology and oncology. The department not only concentrate on therapeutic aspect of the disease but preventive aspect is taken care by conducting various awareness program and special days of celebration. The Department has developed state of art Intensive care unit and coronary care unit which is monitored by well experienced faculties trained in Critical care Medicine. Intensive care units are platform for postgraduate students to sharpen their clinical and diagnostic skills in emergency situation.

The department has adequate staff as per the statutory norms for guiding undergraduate and postgraduate students. Department of Medicine offers training for 500 undergraduates and 12 postgraduates.

The department delivers Inpatient and outpatient services for needy segments of population in and around the Kanchipuram district. In addition to that, speciality evening clinics are conducted to provide speciality care for them. Daily OPD is about 162-165 and 15-20 admissions are done in the department per day.  

Department of Medicine bridges with other clinical allied medical departments like Pulmonary Medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology etc to exchange expert knowledge of the subject through interdepartmental training activities.

  1. Inpatient and Outpatient Facilities: where every day 162-165 OP patients are screened and 15-20 patients are admitted for treatment.
  2. Medical Intensive care Unit (MICU) and Coronary care Unit (CCU): intensive care is provided with on duty intensivist expertise in critical care.
  3. 24X7 Dialysis Unit: dialysis unit runs for 24 hrs with trained staff and resident.
  4. Speciality Clinics in Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology from 2 pm to 3.30 pm.
